Over 600 prominent business guests attended the grand gala where winners were announced in six major business categories.

Launched in 1993, the OBBA celebrates and recognizes leading ethical businesses that contribute to Ottawa’s success through a demonstration of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Each year, hundreds of businesses are nominated for their contributions to Ottawa’s success. Award winners are acknowledged for their innovative drive, creativity and their passion for doing business in Ottawa.

“OakWood is honoured to be the recipient of the Mid-Market Business of the Year in the bronze category,” says John Liptak, President and CEO of OakWood. “These awards are unique to Ottawa and we are privileged to be seen as contributing to the success of such a great City.”

OakWood Renovation Experts is pleased to announce that it was awarded the coveted Torch Award for Marketplace Trust in the Home Improvement category. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) announced the winners of the 15th Annual Torch Awards on November 8th at the Hellenic Centre in Ottawa. OakWood is the first Ottawa renovation business to win both the Torch Award and Consumer Choice Award.
“Of all the awards in our industry the BBB Torch Awards stand out as particularly meaningful to OakWood,” said John Liptak, President and CEO of OakWood. “These awards are about trust and operating a business with the highest levels of integrity.”

The Ottawa BBB introduced the annual Torch Awards program in 1996 to recognize local businesses that maintain a solid commitment to conducting their business practices in an ethical fashion. Companies are selected by an independent panel for their exceptional conduct in the marketplace. Winners are recognized for “exceeding marketplace standards for ethics in their relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, peers, and the communities in which they do business.”
“We are very proud of this latest award addition to our showcase,” says Patricia Liptak-Satov, General Manager, OakWood. “For over 55 years we have strived at every level to earn the trust and confidence of our customers, suppliers, and partners. We would like to thank the Ottawa Better Business Bureau for honouring us with this very important award.”

In addition to the Torch Award for Marketplace Trust, OakWood has won the Consumers Choice Award as Ottawa’s Best Home Designer and Ottawa’s Best Renovator every year since these awards were introduced in 2008. OakWood was also honoured with three prestigious design awards from the Greater Ottawa Home Builder’s Association (GOHBA).
