OakWood is honoured to be an accredited member in the highest standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) – and not every company is eligible. Businesses that meet high standards are invited to join BBB and are presented to local Boards of Directors (or designees) for review and acceptance as a BBB Accredited Business. OakWood has consistently been placed on the honour roll.

OakWood is a founding member of the RenoMark program for builder excellence in Ottawa. This program is dedicated to raising the level of professionalism in the local building industry. Currently out of over 430 so called Renovators in Ottawa, less than 7% meet the qualifications established by the RenoMark program.

We even have a Carpenter Apprenticeship program in place where we train the next generation of qualified licensed carpenters. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

LEED is a third-party certification program and an internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. It provides building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance.

LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:

• sustainable site development
• water efficiency
• energy efficiency
• materials selection
• indoor environmental quality

In 2013 the Liptak family celebrated 57 years of building in the Ottawa community. Going over the half century mark is a notable accomplishment in this industry.  90% off all construction company’s fail within the first 10 years of operation and 30% fail within the first 3 years. OakWood is an active and valued member in good standing with the Greater Ottawa Home Builders Association Renovators Council. One goal of OakWood is to elevate the level of professionalism of Renovators in the Ottawa area. We also provide input to regulatory bodies speaking as one professional voice for the local renovation industry.
