John Liptak, President
John brings over 35 years of construction and renovation experience to your project. His family has a long history in the Ottawa construction industry, dating back to 1956 when his father started a renovation business. Under the watchful eye of his father, John learned the building business from the bottom up and started by cleaning jobsites at the age of 11! He graduated with honours and highest marks with both Ontario and Inter-provincial Carpenters License in 1978. Always learning and open to new ideas, John balances respect for traditional craftsman techniques with new advanced technologies that continually improve quality, reliability, and efficiency.
Debbie Liptak, Vice President
Debbie brings an invaluable background in accounting to the building industry and is responsible for the financial success that OakWood enjoys today. Being with John for over 30 years has its benefits and drawbacks. Since John is always working Debbie has received extensive on-site building experience and training! Fortunately John’s passion for the industry quickly rubbed off and she is an equally engaged team player. Debbie leverages her accounting expertise to constantly develop and fine-tune the administrative and financial systems that ensure a well run company and ultimately complete customer satisfaction.
Patricia Liptak, General Manager
Having grown up around construction and the family business, Patricia learned early on about the value of hard work. Working for OakWood during the summer and holidays she quickly gained real-world business experience. After completing a BA in Law and a minor in Business, she has come back to OakWood full time to contribute to the success of the family business. With her background in construction and impressive academic credentials, Patricia is fine-tuning OakWood’s many processes while taking an increasing leadership role in the day-to-day management of the company.
Qualified Office Support Staff
OakWood has an in-house team of highly specialized and trained professionals to support every step in your renovation project. Our talented “dream team” includes: qualified Project Consultants, Architectural Technologists, Interior Designers, Material Selection Coordinators, Quantity Surveyors, Resource Schedulers and in office Project Managers. Our people are rigorously trained and qualified to help you throughout the complete design and build process.
Field Support – Production Managers & Lead Carpenters
OakWood’s field expertise sets the bar for the renovation industry. Once your project is commissioned, a pre-construction meeting will introduce you to the OakWood Team. All of our contact information is available to you including direct phone lines and access to your site Production Manager so that you will always have someone to speak with. Our Field services system has central coordination of all aspects of the build. We call this the “war room”: every project has a schedule consisting of a project critical path that is updated live every day. Production Managers inspect sites to ensure that all trades work safely and meet OakWood’s quality standards as well as your project’s progress schedule.
Trade Partners
Our team also consists of over 400 construction service providers and Trade Partners. OakWood has the luxury of working with the best Trade Partners in Ottawa and beyond, because of our expert project management, fast and reliable payment, accurate scheduling, and strong leadership. OakWood provides a professional work-site for every project and having no debt, also affords prompt payment to all of its Trade Partners. This means that the most professional and qualified people want to work for OakWood. This all benefits you by ultimately ensuring reliable, professional work and a great atmosphere for your project.
